Stephen Lewandowski as our 2008 celebrity chef
Stephen Lewandowski, known for his earthy, elegant cuisine, is the executive chef of Tribeca Grill, the landmark restaurant in downtown Manhattan. Lewandowski’s contemporary American fare combines creative passion and classical technique: signature dishes include braised short rib with morels, English peas and fava beans and poached Maine lobster with crispy sweetbreads.
This talented young chef’s food is complemented by Tribeca Grill’s outstanding wine list, which has earned Wine Spectator’s coveted Grand Award every year since 2002. Having drawn critical acclaim for his special wine dinners, Lewandowski will lead the interactive dinner at the Thirteenth Annual Miami Wine and Food Festival.
Lewandowski graduated from the Culinary Institute of America and continued to refine his craft at Manhattan's Abbey restaurant, Gotham Bar & Grill and then at Fantino in the Ritz Carlton. Stephen spent several years with the Ritz Carlton, cooking in various cities across the United States. In 1999, he was named executive sous chef for the Peabody Orlando, overseeing all five restaurants for the 1000-room hotel. He joined Tribeca Grill in 2000 and was promoted to executive chef in 2003.
